Brest customs officers seized several cutting weapons of the Second World War times at the border crossing ‘Warsaw Bridge’.
A citizen of Russia who was crossing the border by his own car tried to smuggle German dirks and a hunting sword with Nazi symbols into Belarus. The weapons were inside the vehicle among his personal belongings.
The seized sword and dirks are authenthik, there were made in 1934-1937 in Germany, Belarusian experts say. A similar dirk of a German Luftwaffe costs BYN 2,000 (appr. $1,000) in Russia.
In accordance with Belarusian laws, the carriage of such items is allowed only when one has a special license.
