President of Zimbabwe to visit Belarus

Next week, Emmerson Mnangagwa will visit Belarus, which since last year has been actively helping Zimbabwe to mine diamonds and build roads. A spokesman for Mnangagwa called this visit “strategic.”

Last year, Zimbabwe was visited by Viktar Sheiman, manager of Alyaksandr Lukashenka. During that visit, both countries agreed on the joint creation of enterprises, the development of infrastructure, the construction of railways and highways and the creation of logistics centers.

Belarus is particularly interested in contracts for the supply of timber, road-building and truck equipment to an African country in the amount of almost $ 60 million.

In addition to Belarus, he will visit Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. After this, Mnangagva will travel to Switzerland, where he will take part in the World Economic Forum, which will be held from January 22 to 25.

Last month, the United Diamond Company began operating crushing equipment that it acquired in Belarus, NewsdzeZimbabwe reports.

Emmerson Mnangagwe is 76 years old. He came to power the year before last as a result of a military coup after a conflict with dictator Robert Mugabe. During the reign of the latter, Mnagagwa was responsible for the repression in the country.
