No compensation for Kremyanetski who plans to take KGB to court again

During the hearing of the Young Front activist, the responsibility was shifted to the Finance Ministry. The ministry, however, “sees no reason” to satisfy the claim.

Judge Palina Antsipchuk from the Moscow district court in Minsk has dismissed the lawsuit by Zmitser Kremyanetski who demanded from KGB damages for unlawfully keeping him behind bars for 10 days.

Kremyanetski was detained on March 23 this year. On June 2, charges “of the mass riots preparation” were lifted from Kremyanetski, as well as all the Young Front activists due to the absence of corpus delicti.

“We filed a lawsuit after the Investigative Committee gave me an order that I have the right to receive compensation for moral harm. Later, they sent me a letter in which they wrote: “Oh, we are sorry, we made a mistake — you do not have that right.” But my subpoena was already in court,” said Kremyanetski.

“I was thrown into prison for no reason — and nobody even apologized”

During the hearing, the Ministry of Finance was the defendant.

Zmitser Kremyanetski sees nothing surprising in this.

“It is common practice: the Ministry of Finance is always held responsible for illegal sentences. In order not to transfer money through third parties, they pay directly,” said Zmitser.

The activist, however, believes it is the KGB that is responsible, as well as the Head of State directly.

“The KGB detained us and started a criminal case. They came to my place and conducted a search, took personal belongings, put me in Valadarka, where I was kept for no reason, and then did not even apologize, saying all was fine, adds Kremyanetski. — And Lukashenka said on TV that we are bandits and terrorists.”

The activist is going to appeal the judgment in the Minsk city court.
