Mother of Belarusian Hero of Ukraine dies at 61

Nina Zhyzneuskaya, the mother of the Belarusian defender of Euromaidan Mikhail Zhyzneuski, has passed away at the age of 61.

A day before, Nina Vasilyevna was taken to hospital, daughter Natalya told belsat.eu. She had fever and felt unwell. According to the daughter, Nina Zhyzneuskaya was poorly examined.

“She was put in the neurology unit. A bit later, I asked the doctors about the diagnosis. And they said the check-up was poor because there were too many patients and promised to carry out a meticulous examination next day. And today they call and say ‘We are awfully sorry’. That is the way ill people are treated in our country,” the daughter said.

As reported earlier, Nina Vasilyevna’s husband, Mikhail Zhyzneuski Senior, died on April, 8. He suffered from hypertension and heart disease.

On 22 January 2014, Belarusian citizen Mikhail Zhyzneuski was killed in the course of the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv. He was only four days shy of his 26th birthday when he was shot in the heart.

In June 2017, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Mikhail Zhyzneuski. In 2016, Ukraine’s Ministers Cabinet took the decision to pay a lifelong stipend to his parents.

Mikhail’s parents always stressed that their son had been killed not only for the freedom of Ukraine but also for that of and Belarus.

Belsat expresses our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
