Minsk to have its own Hyde Park

In Belarus, an updated law “On Mass Events” is being introduced.

Currently, in order to hold a rally, you just need to report it to the appropriate authorities. The notifying principle, however, applies only to certain city areas identified by the authorities.

Minsk is adopting European traditions: the local ‘Hyde Park,’ like the traditional place of political battles in London, will soon appear in the Belarusian capital. Now the People’s Friendship Park near Bangalore Square is the territory that, according to the updated law “On Mass Events”, can become a permanent venue for rallies, gatherings and pickets.
