The soldiers who are defending Ukrainian positions in Mariupol direction have assembled a makeshift Christmas tree using mines, shells and grenades that had been previously fired from the side of Russian-backed militants.

The height of the Christmas tree is almost two metres, the Joint Forces operation HQ reports.

All these pieces of ammunition were prohibited by the Minsk agreements. And they had been collected for only twenty minutes. But if we were set the task to make a tree up to 10 feet (3.04 m), we would have spent not more than 4-5 hours on picking up the enemy’s ammo,” Vyacheslav, a senior officer at the military unit, said.

According to the officer, the Ukrainian defenders of Azov region are ready to hand over this ‘New Year’s gift’ to separatists.
