Marc Chagall's paintings sold at Christie's for $3.5 million


On February 28th and March 1st, one of the world’s most famous auctions — London’s Christie’s– held three auctions, which sold the work of the Impressionists and contemporary artists.

Among the works were paintings of our compatriot, Vitsebsk born Marc Chagall. Five of his paintings were sold for a total amount of $3.5 million.

Among the sold works were “Head of Horse”, “Nude With a Bouquet”, “Couple With Lamp”, “Yellow Rooster In the Sky Over Vance,” “Mexican Serenade.”

The cheapest was the drawing Chagall made using gouache and watercolor on paper. Collectors paid 228 thousand dollars for it.

The “Head of Horse” was rated the highest. It was sold for more than $ 1 million.

“Nude With a Bouquet” was estimated by collectors at 931 thousand dollars, “Couple With Lamp” at 752 thousand dollars, “Yellow Rooster In the Sky Over Vance” at 483 thousand dollars.
