Lukashenka lobbying for preserving Minsk format in settling Russia-Ukraine conflict

Belarus president Alyaksandr Lukashenka spoke on the possibility of resolving the conflict in Ukraine beyond the Minsk format when meeting with the secretaries of the security councils of the CSTO member states on June, 15.

Today’s meeting was held in the same hall where the Normandy Four negotiations had taken place. According to the Belarusian leader, the Minsk agreements have not been implemented in full:

“Last week these [agreements] began to be attacked by the states that should have sat at the negotiating table and join the talks!”

Alyaksandr Lukashenka stood for preserving the Minsk format:

“There have been some hints that the world might do without the Minsk format and find some other ways of settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. Of course, it is possibl,. But starting anew is always more difficult than continuing a good work.”
