Kremlin set to destroy Ukraine’s statehood - Poroshenko

Russia is trying to destroy the Ukrainian statehood, which is confirmed, in particular, by its aggressive actions in the Azov-Black Sea basin and the seizure of Ukrainian sailors, Petro Poroshenko said during Monday’s meeting with President of the European Council Donald Tusk in Kyiv.

“The goal of the Kremlin is to destroy the Ukrainian statehood, to create the so-called second version of the Soviet Union,” the Ukrainian President stressed.

“You know very well what the Soviet Union is, what the Warsaw Pact is, what the past is, from which we came together with you. Only our effective actions, our solidarity will prevent the return to these grievous times,” the Ukrainian leader told Tusk.

Petro Poroshenko also thanked the top EU official for his ‘personal support’ for Ukraine in ‘these very important days for Ukraine’.
