IOC lifts ban on Russian Olympic Committee

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has restored the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee in the organization, the RBC reports with reference to the member of the IOC Shamil Tarpishchev.

“All the results of our athletes were “clean”. Russia does not need anything to do procedurally, the restoration of membership happened automatically, the IOC has no complaints,” Shamil Tarpischev said.

Later, the head of the ROC Alexander Zhukov confirmed this information.

The decision to suspend the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee in the IOC was adopted in December 2017 because of the use of doping by Russian athletes. Russian athletes were allowed to participate in the Olympics in Pyeongchang in the status of “Olympic athletes from Russia” and acted under a neutral flag.

Before the closing of the Olympics in Pyeongchang, the IOC refused to lift the ban on the OCD on February 25.
