Interior Ministry comments on possibility to enter Belarus with PRD and PRL passports
According to the website of the police department, documents issued in the “People’s Republic of Donetsk” and “People’s Republic of Luhansk” are not valid in Belarus. There is, however, a caveat.
Majority of citizens who present a PRD and PRL document are covered by the Decree of the head of Belarus #420 “On the stay of citizens of Ukraine in the Republic of Belarus” from 30.08.2014. According to the decree, these citizens are exempt from the necessity to provide certain documents required for the decision to grant a residence permit in Belarus.
“Thus, while entering the Republic of Belarus from the Russian Federation, citizens presenting travel documents of the PRD and PRL are first subject to identification and then, depending on life situation, a decision is taken on the possibility of their further stay in Belarus,” said the Interior Ministry.
On February 18, Russian President issued a decree recognizing PRD and PRL passports. This measure was introduced temporarily, until “the conflict in Donbas is resolved”.
A few days later, the State Border Committee of Belarus stated that entering our country using the documents from Prd and PRL is impossible.
