The conversation lasted almost three hours. First, the officers – one of them introduced himself as Mikhail Vasilyevich – asked the activist about his attitude to the European Games that will be held in Minsk in the summer of 2019. They also suggested that Mironchyk could become a ‘volunteer’.

“I said no. Then they started hinting at the Young Front. They asked about Dzyanis Urbanovich [chairman of the organization], when and how I met him, etc,” the activist told Belsat.

The ‘chekists’ also touched on the topics of Kurapaty, the white-red-white flag and social networks.

“Then they unofficially told me that I should report on the Young Front activities to them,” Mironchyk said.

The activists was also forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement. “But I cannot help making the fact public, because I hate informing,” he said.

After his refusal to become a KGB informant, Ivan Mironchyk was warned that he might face problems at wark, his flat might be searched and even a criminal case might be initiated against him for publishing the story of a conversation. According to Mironchyk, as the 2nd European Games are looming, the special services are becoming more active.

The 2nd European Games will be held in Minsk in June 21-30, 2019. For the first time it took place in 2015 in Baku; it was started rolling by Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s close friend, Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, who definitely wants it to run and run. However, holding the event may cost Belarusians $30-40 mln.
