Freelancer from Homiel to pay the state 78 million in fines

On March 17, journalist Kanstantsin Zhukousky was sentenced to the next round of monetary penalties.

On March 17, the Mazyr District Court Judge Natallia Asadchaya fined the Homiel freelance journalist Kanstantsin Zhukousky 35 basic units under Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code for allegedly “illegal manufacture of media products” – cooperation with the TV channel “Belsat” without accreditation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Zhukousky is to pay Br 7 million 350 thousand rubles.

The freelancer learned about the trial from SMS messages, but could not get there due to the broken car.

“The trial was held without my participation. I warned the secretary of the court via the phone that I could not come. I think that my presence would not change anything,” said Zhukousky.

This year it was the sixth administrative case against the freelance journalist.

Mazyr policemen drew up a report based on the story “Mazyr: distillery going bankrupt”, which Belsat broadcast on 9 February.

BAJ reported that this year, in addition to Mazyr, Zhukousky was tried for “illegal production of media products” in Kalinkavichi, Karma, Buda-Kashalyova and twice in Zhlobin.

The fines amounted to 45 million 700 thousand rubles, and with the last year’s similar penalties reached 77 million 700 thousand Belarusian rubles.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/-wknwnEwRKE”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
