Facebook deletes over 1,900 fake pages originating in Russia

Facebook staff have deleted 1,907 pages (including 1,757 groups) that were related to Russia.

According to the company statement, they were all involved in “coordinated, inaccurate behavior” and were engaged in sending spam. Part of the pages posted materials on Ukraine — including the war in Donbass, corruption, the problem of refugees, etc. Administrators of remote pages managed them from fake accounts.

Data on deleted pages were transferred to law enforcement agencies, Facebook added.

Facebook has been regularly blocking fake accounts since September 2017, including those related to Russia and the “troll factory,” Medusa writes.
