Brest anarchists spend 5 days in prison, get arrested again


Andrei Dzenyushkin, Ruslan Khalikau, and Dzmitry Leuchuk were once again sentenced for participation in the 5 March protest in Brest.

The anarchists were detained by plainclothes police, when the young men were returning home on the day of the march. They were detained for 5 days and were supposed to be released on March 10th, but never left the detention center. On March 13th the young men were sentenced under Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus and once again sentenced to 5 days of arrest.

Only their relatives were allowed to be present at the trial.

Bloggers Syarhei Pyatrukhin and Zmitser Harbunou were detained on the morning of March 12th, when they came out of the house. They were tried under Article 23.23 Part 1 of the Administrative Code – “Violation of the rules of meetings, rallies, street marches, demonstrations, picketing, as well as public calls for the organization or holding of meetings, rallies, street marches, demonstrations, picketing in violation of the established order of their organization or conduct”. Pyatrukhin and Harbunou demanded to have lawyers — the trial was postponed for March 14th. The head of the Brest regional “Tell the Truth” office Danil Palyanski was fined 10 basic units for taking part in the 26 February protest in Brest.
