Birthday gift: Putin gets pay raise from himself

From October 1 on, the salaries of a number of Russian civil servants, including President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, will grow by 4.3%, meduza.io reports.

The upcoming higher payroll spending is pegged to the 2018 official inflation rate in Russia.

A pay raise will be given to deputy prime ministers, ministers, the Central Election Commission chairperson, the Prosecutor General, FSB and Rosgvardia senior officers.

Previously, their salaries were increased (by 4%) in January, 2018.

Interestingly, Vladimir Putin had his 67th birthday on October 7, the day of signing the corresponding decree.
