Belarus restricts pork imports


Belarus has introduces temporary restrictions on pork shipments from certain regions of Russia, Ukraine and Poland due to African swine fever (ASF).

Several new cases of African swine fever have been registered on the territory of the Saratov and Ivanovo regions of Russia. Similar cases have been registered in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, as well as in Mazowieckie, Podlaskie and Lublin regions of Poland.

In this regard, on February 22 Belarus has introduced temporary restrictions on the import of live pigs, pork, including wild boar meat, processed foods, leather, raw intestines, bristles, hunting trophies, as well as feed, previously used equipment for keeping, slaughter and butchering of pigs from regions of Russia, Ukraine and Poland.

Permits for the import of such products from these regions, issued previously, were canceled.
