Belarus-born 'IS militants' deny Russian media reports on their participation in Brussels attacks

The Belarusian-born Dovbash brothers, Suleiman (Ivan) and Khalid (Alexei), state they have never been involved in terrorist activities.

According to pro-Kremlin media outlet Lifenews, Russia did inform the Belgian authorities of three Daesh militants preparing attacks in Brussels.

Radio Svaboda contacted a ‘Suleiman Dovbash’ in Facebook today to respond to the allegations. He confirms that his Belarusian name is Ivan and writes:

“These articles (are the latest examples of) yellow journalism and nonsensical efforts of miserable journalists to get their next little ‘star’. The first article appeared on 14 March. In it, we were described as suicide attackers — yet the police didn’t try to find us, nobody even telephoned. Don’t you find that strange? The information from the secret services was checked. Furthermore, it’s not difficult for the police to ascertain whether we ever traveled to Syria or not.”

According to Mr Dovbash, when they contacted the secret services for an explanation. The brothers were told us the Belgians knew nothing and had nothing against them.

“And what’s most important: If we are suicide attackers, why are we still alive? And if we’re terrorists, why haven’t we been arrested?”

Meanwhile, the KGB spokesperson has told Belsat.eu today that the Belarusian State Security Committee is aware of the two brothers and carrying out checks at the moment,

It should be noted again that it was as far back as March 14 when Russian media reported about two brothers, natives of Belarus, who were allegedly preparing attacks in Belgium.

The Dovbash brothers claim since they moved to Belgium, they have never had any problem with the local security forces.

Alexei Dovbash and his younger brother Ivan has been residing in Belgium since 2007. The both converted to Islam. The brothers moved to Europe with their mother when they were children. After divorcing their father, the woman married a Belgian and took the sons to Brussels. Their father still live in Belarus’ Homiel region.
