Authorities arrest wife of Minsker Andrey Zeltsar who shot down KGB officer

The Belarusian Investigative Committee has presented an official version of a shootout that occurred on September 28 in Minsk. In the course of Tuesday’s KGB raid, two persons were killed.

According to the committee, security officers were conducting a ‘special inspection of the apartments in which people involved in terrorist activities could have been’.

“Upon the lawful request of law enforcement officers, a 31-year-old Minsk resident refused to open the door of the apartment and locked himself in it. He was recording videos for the purpose of hyping on them in thefuture. When the officers broke into the apartment, the man fired a shotgun at law enforcers. As a result, one of them was injured, later, he died of wounds in hospital,” the statement reads.

The owner of the apartment, whose name is Andrey Zeltsar, was killed. His 40-year-old wife was arrested on suspicion of complicity in the murder of a KGB officer.

It has been not specified why the KGB employees were not wearing body armour when being in search of so called terrorists.
