‘Pivotal step in integration’? Putin to take place in Union State’s high-profile event via video link

Russian leader Vladimir Putin is reported to participate in an online session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.

“Yes, a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State is scheduled for November 4, during celebrations of [Russia’s] National Unity Day,” news agency TASS quotes Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Holding the meeting of the Union State’s Supreme Council of Russia and Belarus was announced earlier; today it has become known that the event will be held via videolink.

Meanwhile, at Thurday’s meeting with Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, Alyaksandr Lukashenka stressed that the upcoming session ‘would serve as a pivotal step regarding the integration process’. According to previous reports, the sides were about to sign 28 integration programs as well as a new military doctrine of the Union State. But as it appears from today’s statement by the Kremlin, the much-talked-about signing of the documents would not take place in early November as it could not be done via videoconference.
