Tsikhanouskaya's office comments on Lukashenka's new decree

Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s press office has commented on Lukashenka’s upcoming presidential transition decree, Radio Liberty reports.

“Lukashenka had to respond to the protest: for the first time in 26 years, he began preparing his resignation,” Tsikhanouskaya’s press service reported.

“Now we have to finish what we started and ensure his departure happens under legal procedures. The best way is to negotiate a new election,” the press service quoted Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya as saying.

On April 24, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that he planned to sign a decree on the transfer of presidential powers to the Security Council if there is a need for it.

Lukashenka spoke about this document a week ago at a subbotnik. The decree should become one of the “most important decisions” during his presidency. He said that he was preparing a plan “B” in case of a successful attempt on his life.
