Lukashenka urges 'tough measures' against A1

Deputy Chief of Lukashenka’s Administration Ihar Lutski said he’d been instructed to assess the actions of A1, to “sort out” what was happening in the company and “take the most stringent measures,” reports Sb.by.

“In a sense, the telecommunications and content provider A1, operating in Belarus, “leaked” the wrong content to the wrong place. Such actions violate all the moral, ethical and legal norms and rules. In this regard, the president of Belarus has given an instruction to assess the actions of the company,” Lutski said, and noted that the toughest measures would also be taken by this order.

“No ocmpany will be allowed to do it. Neither foreign, nor Belarusian one. It’s impossible to work in such a way on the territory of our country. A1 is an international company, and no matter what they say, that they work by the rules, the company has crossed lines in a brazen way,” Lutski added.

On December 13, it emerged that Mikalai Bredzeleu, head of the “A1 Belarus” public rellations department, was detained and punished with a 15-day detention. Mikalai was detained by law enforcers who claim that he had leaked classified information to telegram channels, which are recognized extremist by the Belarusian authorities. In its turn, “A1” refutes it and says that Bredzeleu had no access to classified information.
