Lithuania limits euro cash brought to Belarus


Lithuanian customs has imposed restrictions on the export of cash euros to Belarus and Russia for personal needs, wrote the Lithuanian agency.

Lithuania has restricted the sum in cash euros imported for personal needs in Belarus and Russia. One can only cross the border with no more than €60 in cash per person. Export of other currencies is not limited. Violation of this decree entails administrative responsibility.

Exports of euros to Belarus and Russia have been restricted under the regulations of the Council of the European Union. On March 9, the European Commission decided to “ban transactions with the Central Bank of Belarus related to the management of reserves or assets, as well as the provision of public financing for trade and investment in Belarus. Brussels banned sending euro banknotes to Belarus.
