Escaped Polish soldier found hanged in Minsk


The Investigative Committee of Belarus reports that a soldier Emil Czeczko, who had escaped from Poland, was found hanged in Minsk.

Investigators are looking into the death of Emil Czeczko, a fugitive Polish soldier. He was reportedly found hanged at his place of residence in Minsk.

“The Investigative Committee is considering all possible versions of what happened, including the violent nature of death,” the IC reports.

A forensic examination will take place to establish the cause of death.

Emil Czeczko was doing his military service in Poland and went missing on duty in the area of the villages of Narowka, Semenovka, and Semenov Lake. After the search, it emerged that he had crossed the border and fled to Belarus.

According to the Belarusian side, the soldier ran away to Belarus on December 16. He applied for political asylum. For some time, he was a guest of propaganda broadcasts on Belarusian TV.
