The fifth package of sanctions against the Belarusian authorities is already in preparation, said Franak Vyachorka, international affairs advisor of Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

“Already on Monday [September 6 — Belsat.eu] representatives of foreign ministries of the European Union will meet to begin developing a joint sanctions package. Each country will put its proposals on the table. Last week, there were consultations on sanctions in the European Parliament, and one can feel that there is a certain consensus on the pressure on the regime,” he said in his telegram channel.

According to him, some countries suggest strengthening sectoral sanctions and expanding individual lists. They could include prosecutors and judges involved in repression, those responsible for the migration crisis, and Ryanair’s forced landing, propagandists, pursers of the regime, Belavia.

Vyachorka noted that the sanctions are planned to be synchronized with the U.S. and Canada. He also expects Montenegro, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Ukraine, and Serbia to join the sanctions.

“The regime can stop imposing new sanctions if it releases all political prisoners, stops the flow of migrants, and punishes those responsible for the repression,” the advisor said.
