Last year Belarus sold military products worth $ 1 billion


Over the past 5 years, Belarus has doubled the volume of the export of military products. In 2016, exports amounted to $ 1 billion. This was announced by Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee Syarhei Huruliou.

According to Mr Huruliou, such a “serious figure” was achieved thanks to the continued expansion of the market. At the moment Belarus is selling military goods to 52 countries in the world, BelTA writes.

“Basically, we are talking about electronics, radars of Belarusian production, military equipment modernization projects. Belarus also supplies drones, decommissioned bombers SU-24, SU-27 helicopters,”military expert Alyaksandr Alesin told Belsat.

According to the expert, among others, Belarus actively exports anti-aircraft missiles.

“As to the countries where we sell our products, our basic and long-standing partners are Venezuela and China. It is known that Vietnam buys Belarusian helicopters. Furthermore, the modernization program are available in the majority of countries where Soviet weapons and equipment remain: Algeria, Egypt, Syria,” says Alesin.

According to official data, Belarus signed contracts with 32 countries at the state level in the sphere of military-technical cooperation.
