CEC Head Yarmoshyna voted early for 'person she knows very well'

Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission voted early in the “Pakrouski” business center near the “Minsk-Arena”, at the polling station # 511. Singer Iryna Darafeyeva is also running at this station. According to Yarmoshyna, later she will not have time to vote.

The Head of the Central Election Commission had to choose from the ex-presidential candidate Viktar Tsyareshchanka, singer Iryna Darafeyeva, Uladzimir Padhol, a lawyer and son of the former head of the Federation of Trade Unions Andrei Kozik, communist Kiryl Herasimau and Liberal Democrat Aleh Chesalau.

“I voted for the person I know very well. Only a person who has achieved something — fame, capital, education and prospects– should be a deputy,” said Lidziya Yarmoshyna.

According to official data, about 4% of voters expressed their will on the first day of early voting. Lidziya Yarmoshyna called the number regular. She also called the claims of some independent observers, who stated that their data was at odds with the official statistics unfounded.

“Students are not forced to go to the polls, and the extra free day promised to some is not an enforcement. It is if I may say so, a bribery of voters. University administration uses this option to encourage free political activity. Thus, there is no violation of the law.”

Lidziya Yarmoshyna said that the election had been 100% transparent from the very start. She called it the most democratic one since 2000.
