Survey: Lukashenka most popular foreign politician in Ukraine, Putin gets 16%


The survey group Rating has conducted a survey “Ukrainians’ attitude to global leaders”. The results of the poll have revealed that 62% of those polled have a positive attitude to Belarusian President Aliaksandr Lukashenka

Aliaksandr Lukashenka is ahead of Barack Obama (54%) and Angela Merkel (51%).

45% of the respondents had a positive attitude to Bronislaw Komorowski, 39% to Jose Manuel Barroso, 36% to Dalia Grybauskaite and 16% to Vladimir Putin

Residents of the western, central and northern regions have a more favorable attitude to Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Bronislaw Komorowski, Jose Manuel Barroso, Dalia Grybauskaite and Francois Hollande. Residents of the southern and eastern parts of the country have a better attitude to Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Nursultan Nazarbayev. The residents of the south also named Angela Merkel among most trusted politicians.

Ukrainians turned out to be very tolerant to citizens of other countries. Their attitude to them is much better than the attitude to the leaders of these countries. Ukrainians have the most positive attitude to Belarusians (53% definitely positive and 41% rather positive). The attitude to Russians is worse (39% definitely positive and 33% rather positive).

The survey was conducted on 9-19 August 2014. Taking part in it were Ukrainian residents 18 years old and older. The coverage error is within 2.8%.
