Lyauchuk to be tried for his work with Belsat again

After Natallia Kryvashey and Kanstantsin Zhukouski were fined 14.4 million rubles in Homiel for cooperating with Belsat, their colleague will be fined in Brest.

“On June 18 I received a call from a police officer of the Leninski district police department who said that there was launched an administrative process against me, said in an interview with belsat.eu Ales Lyauchuk. It means only one thing: whatever  I do, there will be a protocol, a trial and a fine. The mechanism has been started, and it is working.”

“I am accused of making an interview on 3 May with a striker of Brest Dynama and the top scorer in the history of Belarusian football Raman Vasilyuk. I see how the authorities went down one more step. Coming to the famous football player and asking him to give evidence against the journalist is something quite low.”

“I was warned that the KGB operatives already came to the sports complex Brestski  and recommended that the management of the arena bans me from working there. But so far I have had no complaints from them. I would recommend to the KGB to do their job. For example, they should deal with national security issues. In particular, the concert of the band USSR (CCCP), which will soon be held in Brest.

Previously, Ales Lyauchuk been persecuted for cooperation with Belsat. The first trial took place in December 2014 (Part 2 of Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code. Illegal production and distribution of media materials). At the time, the trial was held with numerous violations. Judge Larysa Nazaranka fined the journalist Br 6 million.

In March 2015, the judge Raman Karaban fined Ales Lyauchuk for cooperation with Belsat almost Br 4 million. In 2015, independent journalists have been fined for “illegal production and distribution of media materials” 108.18 million rubles.
