Film about Donetsk Airport defenders produced in Ukraine (trailer)

Several months of Donetsk airport siege in 2014-2015 became perhaps the most memorable page of the first year of the war in Donbas.

Fighting around critical infrastructure began on 25 May, 2014, and Ukrainians finally gave it up on 21-22 January 2015.

The defenders of the Donetsk airport in Ukraine became symbols of strength and courage, ready to defend their land until the last drop of blood.

Documentaries have been filmed about these events, books written, photo albums made, and written memories left.

Now, the first feature film on the subject is being made by a Ukrainian director of the Crimean Tatar origin Ahtem Seytablaev, who previously was the author of the banned in Russia “Haytarma” film about the deportation of Crimean Tatars in 1944.

In this work, the filmmakers used and interviews with actual members of the Donetsk airport defense, a large amount of documentary photos and videos.

There is already built a layout of the airport terminal buildings, defended by Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers in October 2014. The film budget is about $ 1.7 million.

Script writer Natalia Vorozhbit studied in Moscow, she worked in theaters in Ukraine, Russia, Western Europe, wrote the scripts for 10 films.

The film will premiere in December 2017, the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
