Ukrainian citizen who went missing in Belarus held in custody in Russia - MFA


Pavel Gryb, who was reported missing after he traveled to Belarus on August 24, is in a detention centre in the Russian city of Krasnodar.

“I was informed that he is in Krasnodar’s detention centre No. 5. I was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” his father Igor Gryb, a former officer of the Ukrainian Border Guard, told news agency UNIAN.

Gryb intends to visit his son as soon as possible.

The the 19-year-old resident of Ukraine went missing in the Belarusian city of Homiel. As it emerged later, Russia blacklisted him as a ‘terrorist’ for his criticizing the Kremlin’s policy on the Internet. In Homiel he met with the 17-year-old girl from Sochi who later confessed that the FSB exerted pressure on her. After the disappearance of the young man, Ukrainian politicians question the security of its own nationals in the territory of Belarus.
