Treason case against Russian mother of 7 accused of spying for Ukraine closed

The high treason case against Svetlana Davydova has been closed, her lawyer Ivan Pavlov said on Twitter.

“We have some good news from Lefortovo prison and from Lubyanka: the case against Svetlana Davydova has been closed due to the absence of the event of the crime. Charges for high treason have been fully dropped and she has been informed of her right to rehabilitation,” meduza.io quotes Pavlov as saying

The woman has a right to be compensated for unwarranted prosecution.

On January 21, 2015 Svetlana Davydova, a resident of Vyazma (Smolensk region), was arrested on the charge of high treason as she phoned Ukrainian diplomats to warn them that Russian troops may be en route to their country. In April, 2014 Davydova contacted the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow and told them that a military base near her home, a place of location of the 82nd radioradar brigade of Russia’s Chief Intellingence Directorate (GRU), had been emptied. After being held in Moscow’s Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility she was released.
