The official visit of Alyaksandr Lukashenka to Italy started on 20 May.
At the Ciampino airport the head of Belarus was greeted by the Minister of the Diplomatic Protocol service of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Cristiano Cottafavi, as well as the personal representative of the Pope, Secretary of Protocol Guillermo Karcher and the representative of the Secretary of State of the Vatican Faymon Denali.
Today Alyaksandr Lukashenka will meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. On May 21, the Belarusian leader will visit the Vatican, where he will meet with the Pope.
On the eve of Lukashenka’s visit, the exposition “Icons of Belarus of XVII-XXI centuries from the collection of the National Art Museum of Belarus” opened in the Vatican museums.
