Joint Russia-Belarus tactic war game close to EU border


Belarusian special operations forces and Russian airborne troops are taking part in an active phase of tactical military maneuvers near Brest on October 1-5.

The joint exercise kicked off on Saturday, September 29. During the drills, the military will practice searching, blocking and liquidation of illegal armed groups and diversion and subversive forces sent by a conventional opponent, the Belarusian Defense Ministry of Defense reports.

About 1,500 Belarusian soldiers, a tactical battalion group of the 137th parachute regiment of Russia’s 106th Airborne Division, over 200 military vehicles equipment and up to 10 units of transport aircraft are involved in the active stage of the war game.

Belarus is represented by the soldiers of of the 38th Landing and Assault Brigade of Special Operations Forces.
