Investigative Committee opens criminal investigation into 'VKontakte' spying


A 29-year-old programmer is accused of installing spyware on his client’s computers.

The Investigation Committee is investigating a criminal case of illegal access to computer information against an employee of one of the Minsk firms, committee’s press office reports.

In May 2016, a 26-year-old resident of the capital noticed that someone logs on to her account in “VKontakte” social network, edits the information and reviews correspondence. She decided to go to the police.

After the computer-technical expertise and investigation measures, the police found a 29-year-old native of Brest, who had installed a virus program on the computer of the victim.

During a search of the suspect’s home, the police found the files containing the personal data of other people: passwords for Webmoney, plastic bank cards and personal accounts of Internet banking.
