‘Happy day for Belarus’. Lukashenka hails successful tests of new missile system

A new missile system has been successfully tested in Belarus, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said during a working meeting on Thursday.

“Today is a happy day for us with regard to security and defense. For the meager amount of money we’ve been able to give to our military they have managed to develop and test new missile armaments. Missiles have been fired,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes Lukashenka as saying.

According to the Belaruian leader, the tests were very successful. “The first volley hit the ground virtually 1.5 meters away from the target. The second volley hit the ground virtually 10 meters away from the target. It was perfect. Those were missile systems designed in Belarus in the last two years,” he stressed.

Multiple-launch rocket system Polonez has been designed by Belarusian defense companies. One Polonez can deliver precision strikes against eight targets simultaneously, with deviation from specified coordinates staying under 30m.
