Belarusian police supposedly leaks private phone talk to state TV

A piece of telephone conversation of Pavel Sevyarynets with the “Young Front” leader Zmitser Dashkevich appeared in the propaganda film “Call to Friend” shown by the “Belarus 1” TV channel. The film authors linked the protests against the so-called tax on parasitism with the events in the east of Ukraine and the atrocities of the Nazis during the Second World War.

Minsk police claimed that the actions of the state TV employees were not only legal but also did not violate anybody’s rights. According to Andrei Parashchuk from the investigative committee, who responded to the complaint of Pavel Sevyarynets, the recording came to the TV channel from anonymous source, hence — no one is to blame.

“Anonymity in such cases does not save from responsibility,”- refutes the statement of the police former investigator Aleh Volchak.

Belarusian state television regularly releases private telephone conversations. This state TV film features a number of conversations of Belarusian opposition politicians.

Pavel Sevyarynets is going to demand disclosure of the mysterious sources of the sattet TV channel and appeal the reply of hte police.
