The annual republican action Week Without Abortion started on October, 10.
During this week the doctors all across the country do not perform abortions. Only abortion on therapeutic grounds are allowed, i.e. pregnancy threatens a woman’s life; prenatal genetic malformations, etc.
The campaign is to remind the Belarusians of the importance of life and family values.
According to the Health Ministry, in 2000, the abortion rate was 46 per 1000 Belarusian women, in 2015 – 12.8. In 2014, 29, 797 abortions were registered in 2014, 29,217 – in 2015.
