Belarus may extend visa-free stay for foreigners to 30 days - FM


Belarus is going to extend the period of visa-free stay to up to 10 or even 30 days, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Uladzimir Makey said.

The final decision on the subject will have been taken by the end of 2017, he told in the recent interview with The Financial Times.

Earlier Belarusian officials stated that they were considering the possibility of extending the visa-free stay to ten days.

Over 52,000 tourists took advantage of the visa-free entry to Belarus, Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Mikhail Partnoy said in September.

On January 9, Belarus president Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed the decree ‘On the introduction of the visa-free entry and departure for foreign citizens’. The document introduced visa-free entry through the border checkpoint at the Minsk National Airport and the visa-free stay in Belarus for up to 5 days for the citizens of 80 states, including the entire European Union, Brazil, Indonesia, the USA, Japan.
