Aliaksei Karol dies at 70

His heart stopped on Saturday, September 12, 2015. He was a historian, political scientist, editor in chief of the newspaper Novy Chas.

He was 70 years old. For a year, Karol had been struggling with lung cancer, but continued to participate actively in the work of the editorial board and the public life of Belarus.

 In June this year Aliaksai Karol issued a documentary “1990: As it was, and the road we did not walk.”

The last three months Karol spent with his son’s family in Singapore, where he was treated. Ashes of Aliaksei Karol will be buried in Minsk.

Date and place of the memorial service will be announced later.
