Belsat contributor sentenced to 11 days of prison


Court in Minsk sentenced journalist Alexander Barazienka for 11 days of arrest. 15 days received also opposition activist of “European Belarus” Mikita Kavalenka. Both were proved guilty of breaking the law on mass actions and demonstrations.

On Sunday Kavalenka took part in one-man protest in front of KGB headquarters in Minsk. He unfolded a placard with pictures of political prisoners in Belarus as well as unrecognised white-red-white Belarusian flag. After moment he was arrested by the men who appeared from the building behind. He was seized together with Alexander Barazienka who were filming the protest. Independent journalist is Belsat’s contributor. Both men spent last night in Minsk custody in Acrestsina street.
