A photo exhibition Belarus Press Photo 2011, which can be seen from November 23rd until December 7th 2011 in Wroclaw, is important in the context of the upcoming first anniversary of brutal crackdown on the opposition demonstration in Minsk on December 19th, right after the elections.
Majoraty of the photos, including work of Siarhej Hidzilina which was awarded the Grand Prix, cannot be exhibited in Belarus due to their explicitly political themes. It is also worth spending time on studying the cultural and spiritual aspects, as the tradition and customs are still big part of the Belarusian life.
The main award winner, Siarhej Hudzilin, a reporter for the Belarusian newspaper Nasha Niva will be a guest of honor at the exhibition. The gallery opening will be held on November 23rd, at 6pm in the Centrum Kultury Zamek in Wroclaw. The evening will be concluded with a concert of a Belarusian group Nagual.
The exhibition was brought by: Free Belarus, City Council Wroclaw, Urząd Marszałkowski Województwa Dolnośląskiego, Bialystok Cultural Center, Amicus Society and Centrum Kultury Zamek.
