FM: No great expectations of EaP summit

The level of Belarus’ representation at the forthcoming EaP Summit in Vilnius should not be very high, Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey told reporters in Moscow.

According to the top official, the issue is currently under discussion. Belarus has no special expectations of the event and therefore Minsk believes that the level of the country’s representation should not be very high, he said.

The results of the summit will hardly be very significant for Belarus, Mr Makey said. However, he added that Belarus “is interested in its involvement in the Eastern Partnership because we believe that this will help normalize our relations with the European Union”.

Belarus has not yet notified the EU who will represent the country at the summit while the country received an invitation to participate in the EaP summit in Vilnius in early October.
