UK imposes additional sanctions against Russia

The UK has banned the export of aviation and space products and technologies to Russia because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Reuters reports.

In addition to the ban, the government has imposed introduced liability for aircraft associated with Russia for flying and landing in Britain.

The ban includes any aircraft owned, operated, or chartered by a person or entity linked to Russia. Britain will detain any such aircraft.

“Banning Russian-flagged aircraft in Britain and making their presence a criminal offense would cause great economic pain to Russia and those close to the Kremlin,” Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said.
