Young prince playing hockey in UAE: Lukashenka’s son scores two goals

An exhibition game between the Belarus President’s team and veterans of the United Arab Emirates national team took place in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The game ended with Belarus winning 13-7. Aliaksandr Lukashenka scored three goals, while his youngest son Mikalai (Kolya) scored two. The UAE team consisted of players who retired four years ago.

The UAE team may gain revenge today.

On October, 27 the Belarusian President and his son arrived in the United Arab Emirates. A number of agreements in trade, economic, credit, investment, scientific and technical spheres were reached during the ongoing working visit. The fulfillment of the agreements will allow considerably increasing Belarus-UAE trade turnover and implementing projects involving UAE capital in Belarus, state-run news agency BelTA reported.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka is said to be considering the youngest son as his successor but he denies it stressing that it was ‘the fifth column and tabloids’ that spread rumours. At that, Kolya often accompanies him during official visits and meetings with world leaders. The boy dressed in military uniform always inspects parades on the occasion of Victory Day and Independence Day together with his father, and top brass salute him.

The Belarusian President has two sons of the marriage with Halina Lukashenka, whom he has never divorced. Iryna Abelskaya, Lukashenka’s former personal physician, is commonly regarded as the mother of Kolya. It is still unknown whether she put her son under his father’s care voluntarily – the journalists are barred out from interviewing the woman.
