‘We love Ukrainian borshch’: Fundraising for soldiers in Minsk

A charity event ‘We love Ukrainian borshch’ took place in Minsk on Tuesday. The funds raised are to be delivered to Ukrainian soldiers who were wounded in action.

It is the Belarusian film director Volha Nikalaichyk who cooked borshch for the action. Ukrainian troops suffer a shortage of basic medical means, e.g. first-aid sets and tourniquets, she told krynitsa.info.

According to Volha Nikalaichyk, $500 were raised during the similar action in spring. The money were handed over to Euromaidan activists.

Stanislau Shushkevich, ex-Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Belarus, Aliaksei Yanukevich, the leader of the Belarusian People’s Front, human rights defender Yuliya StsiapanavaPavel Seviarynets, a former political prisoner and one of the leaders of the Belarusian Christian Democratic party, was doing the honours of the table.
