It is the Homel-based Belsat TV contributor Kastus Zhukouski who informed the police of the groups’ promoting separatism and the idea of joining the two Belarusian regions to Russia.

However, law enforcers acknowledged that the groups contained no extremist statements aimed at undermining the state structure of Belarus.

The response given to the freelance journalist also stated that the police failed to identify individuals who founded the groups. Kastus Zhukouski is going to lodge an appeal against the decision..
