US extends the suspension of sanctions against nine Belarusian companies.
The decision will be effective for six months, until 30 October 2017, unless it is extended or cancelled, US Treasury reports.
US Treasury extended the authorization of transactions with Belarusian companies that fell under the sanctions according to the presidential decree # 13405. The agency noted that this decision does not release the locked property of these enterprises.
In October 2015, the US partially suspended sanctions against nine companies from Belarus.
US companies can conduct transactions with the Belarusian companies in question, but if the transaction amount exceeds $ 50 thousand, it is necessary to inform the US Department of State within 30 days.
The suspension of US sanctions became possible after the release of political prisoners in 2015, peaceful elections in October of the same year, as well as appearance of opposition MPs in Parliament in 2016 for the first time in 12 years.
