Group 'For Democratic Belarus' to work in Lithuanian Seimas

The group was created as a result of November consultations of Belarusian opposition representatives and the Lithuanian parliamentarians.

It includes 18 deputies from different factions. According to one of the initiators of the group, Anatol Lyabedzka, among the participants are representatives of the ruling coalition and the opposition: the former Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius and Gediminas Kirkilas, former Defense and Foreign Affairs ministers.

Lyabedzka is sure that there are some issues that can be effectively discussed and collaborated on: from the NPP to the local border traffic movement.

Head of the “For Democratic Belarus” group Laurynas Kasčiūnas said that it is open for cooperation and collaboration with the civil society of Belarus.

“Unfortunately, there is no legitimate parliament in Belarus, but we are ready to cooperate with those for whom the elections are a value,” UCP website quotes Laurynas Kasčiūnas.
