Rapid wage growth in Belarus can lead to devaluation

Last year, salaries of Belarusians grew faster than planned by the National Bank, the central bank reported and explained how this seemingly good trend will affect the domestic economy, and in particular, the rise in prices and various tariffs for the population.

According to the estimates of the National Bank of Belarus, since the second quarter of last year, real wages began to grow faster than labor productivity. If this trend continues, it could negatively affect the growth of inflation, and in the future, even lead to devaluation of the domestic currency. The average salary in November was almost 836.9 rubles, but in December it almost reached one thousand (995.3 rubles). In terms of the American currency, it almost reached the figure suggested by the country’s leader. He had instructed the authorities to raise the average salary in the country to $ 500 per month.
